AIRLIE BEACH, Queensland: Reef Crusader, Commercial Skipper and Mum-of-two, Libby Edge, is one ordinary Queenslander making an extraordinary difference on her patch of The Great Barrier Reef.
In 2009, this eco-warrior found herself on a remote Whitsundays beach littered with plastic picked up by the prevailing winds. She founded Eco Barge Clean Seas Inc. with the mandate to remove flotsam and jetsam, improve the look of the tropical island beaches and save the lives of marine animals. Libby and her team of volunteers – including backpackers – have collected 152 tonne of rubbish over 24 trips.
Reef Warriors is a series of short films that will introduce you to some inspiring people who are working to protect and conserve the Great Barrier Reef.
